The Art- Water Conservation- begins at Home!

It is quite evident and clear that water is one of our most precious resources. Considering that every single person on the planet needs water to survive, it seems strange that many of us would have no problem leaving the tap water running but we would go to war if someone tried to steal our oil supply.

For the sake of your family and the survival of our future generations, it is important for we humans to conserve and find out innovative ways to preserve and conserve the best blessing on mankind, i.e water. LIVPURE has come as a positive initiative to guide the masses to pledge and take steps to prevent water wastage. Saving and conserving water for the present as well as future generations is the prime need.

We can all begin by saving water at home, simple measures such as keeping taps of when brushing your teeth (which to our surprise and astonishingly can save up to 6 litres of water per minute!) and taking a shower over a bath will not only help us save money on our heavy water bills but will help ease the pressure on water resources across the globe. Home is where the art of conservation, preservation and protection begins, and holds true for the resource as important as water.

Having a glance on the global stage, efforts such as the Sustainable Development goals are aiming to bring together countries across the planet in a collective effort to achieve real progress by 2030, one of the goals of SDG's to conserve water resources and maintain quality of the clean and fresh water, keeping in mind the varied structure of the society.

Some of the measures through which we can enhance water conservation are:

a) Improve education- Education is a great way to change the mindset of people and bring a great change in the attitude of individuals in the society. For example: Students can be made to learn to conserve water by organising competition to generate ideas.

b) Awareness-raising- Increasing awareness among the people through programmes and campaigns such as #CuttingPaani. The mediums used can vary from social media platform, social gatherings, meetings, competitions.

c) Human habits and behaviour- There can be rewards for the people who have been working towards the conservation techniques and promoting schemes and programmes for the welfare of the society at large. This comes as a great motivation source which would increase participation from the people.

d) Institutional capacity on climate change mitigation- Climate change needs to be carefully looked upon, leading to change in the temperatures all over the world, which is drying up the water bodies, melting of ice-caps, polluting the water. Also the effluents from the industries discharged into the water bodies needs to be processed, separated and treated instead of discharging directly into the water.

e) Adaptation- Adapting to the changes in the environment needs to be adhered to, and measures must be taken to prevent the loss of natural resources, as they are finite and limited in their quantity. Positive attitude is must to adapt positive changes in the nature.

f) Impact reduction- Reducing the impact of pollution- air, water, and soil is must; as it is the prime source of disturbing the environment, and reduction in the natural sources. To reduce the impact it is important that handful of measures such as #CuttingPaani which help in increasing awareness among people to take simple measures which would prove beneficial to society at large.

g) Early warning- The government and other welfare organisations need to work towards warning people about the warning signs for the depletion and exhaustion of resources so that effective measures can be taken towards their conservation, preservation and protection.

If we were to travel to countries across the world we would find an extraordinary and inspiring amount of water conservation efforts, for instance conservation farming in rural communities in Malawi to help ease the burden on freshwater resources. It is very important to learn from the examples which have been set before us as it would ease the task of achievement of water conservation at large.

A lot of the news coming out at the moment about water resources makes for sobering reading, but efforts are underway across the globe and we are all capable of making a difference at home today, such as #CUTTINGPAANI, an amazing initiative by LIVPURE. Every drops we go onto save today, can be the oceans for tomorrow. Quite an example of the time when we feel thirsty, a drop of water gives those soothing pleasures to the mind and body, which cannot be compared to any luxury in the world.
